Travel to Perth

Perth Airport has 2 terminal buildingss (T1/T2 and T3/4). The bulk of International Flights arrive at Terminal 1, except Qantas flights, which arrive at Terminal 3/4. Qantas domestic flights also arrive at T3/T4 while Virgin Australia domestic flights use T1. From September, Jetstar Domestic flights will arrive at T2.

International travelers should double check they will arrive on time for the IBD. Perth time is UTC/GMT +8 hours, so there is a 6 to 8 hours' time difference from Europe and 11 to 13 hours' time difference from America. These need to be added to your flight time to determine the local time difference between departure and arrival.

Quite often the arrival date is one, or even 2 days, after the departure date.

East Asian time zones are likely to be the same or within an hour of Perth time.

Please also check whether you need a tourist visa. If you do, contact us for any paperwork you require for your travel visa application. Check whether there are any health or vaccination requirements.

European and American travelers are likely to be jet lagged, so consider coming a few days early if you can. The hotels will extend the Mensa rate for a week each side of the meeting and we will have pre-meeting tours and events.

If you are flying on to Sydney for the Australia Mensa Conference (AMC), be aware that the flights are about 4 hours long and the time difference is 3 hours. Expect to arrive 7 hours after you depart in local times. If you want to attend the Icebreaker at 5pm on Friday, October 18 in Sydney, your flight will need to leave earlier than 9am on Friday.

You might also check whether there are any special fares that may be better value than just buying return flights. For example One World has a Circle Pacific fare, which would allow you to fly from North America to Perth via Asia, staying there overnight, and flying back with a stopover in Sydney.
